Makerspace & STEAM

Plymouth PTA is thrilled to have opened our very own Makerspace on our school campus! Our Makerspace is entirely funded by our PTA and staffed with parent volunteers to provide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) enrichment for our Plymouth Dragons!

What is a makerspace?

A makerspace is a place where students have access to tools and materials to create things with their own two hands. We provide students with a small bit of instruction and guidance but then allow them the freedom to explore, innovate, solve problems, and make!

We are so excited for this program because participating in makerspace projects is shown to teach and practice 21st century skills such as:

  • communication, collaboration, and critical thinking

  • exploration, experimentation, innovation, and problem-solving

  • a growth mindset, emphasizing process over outcome

  • connections between learning and the real world.

Take a look at our Dragons exploring their own creativity and collaborating with their classmates in our Makerspace!
